I understand that Howard Roark is supposed to be relatively unattractive by traditional standards (albeit, physically attractive what witht the manual labor and all)...it's just the orange hair thing...tough time gettin' past it
On occasion, I involuntarily pictured Scott Farcus. I actively tried to imagine an Eric Stolz (of "Some Kind of Wonderful" fame) type of figure... which, naturally, I didn't mind as he is a fox.
Freedom - Roark and Dominique both define themselves by it, their definitions are opposit but the result is the same - at least so far (pg 144 Signet Centennial Ed)
Roark is "freed" by complete devotion to his work - one result of which is to alienate him from the rest of humanity - even those that like his work.
Dominique is "freed" by her rejection of everything in the world that fails to live up to her impossibly high standards: "To ask nothing. To expect nothing. To depend on nothing" (freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose) And as a result she is also alienated for the rest of humanity.

There must be more to "freedom" that that.
